An Answering Feather is a Medicine Tool, that is used together with a Talking Stick.
The one that is holding the Talking Stick is the only one who is allowed to speak, but sometimes he maybe wants to ask someone else something and then he also wants an answer. So what to do? Give the Talking Stick to the other person? No, because then the other person becomes the boss of what is being said and he might change it into something totally different and the first person will never get the desired answer. And he might not even get the Talking Stick back again.
But there is a good solution to this. If you want to get an answer from someone you just keep your Talking Stick and you give the Answering Feather to the other person, who has to answer your question while holding this feather. And after that, the feather has to be given back to you and now you can decide if you are satisfied with the answer or not.
This also means that everyone in the circle can see who is "holding the speak" and who is the one who has to answer a question.
Here are some Answering Feathers that I have made. Before you have worked on it, it is just a feather, but when you work on it and make it beautiful by giving it "special clothes" it turns into something else (according to your purpose) and becomes a "Medicine Tool", which is then holding this special energy.
